Maskwacis RCMP requesting the public’s assistance in an ongoing arson investigation

Maskwacis, Alberta – On Dec. 2 2020, at approximately 3:00 a.m., Maskwacis RCMP were called to investigate two residential structure fires on the Montana First Nation, Alta. The Fire Department was fortunately able to extinguish the fires however, the fire damage was extensive to the point where the homes couldn’t be saved. Thankfully the residences were empty at the time, and no one was hurt. Police began conducting the investigation and it was determined that the fires were suspicious.

Maskwacis RCMP learned of a video that may have been posted on the social media app SnapChat, but was quickly deleted. Police believe there is a large group of people who have seen the video, and are requesting anyone who has seen it to contact the Maskwacis RCMP. It’s believed the video was posted on Dec. 2 2020 between the hours of 1:30 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. The investigation into the fires is ongoing, and police are working alongside Fire Investigators.
