Yellowknife RCMP GIS seize cocaine under search warrant, Leduc, Alberta man charged

Yellowknife, Northwest Territories – On December 8, 2020 Yellowknife RCMP General Investigative Section (GIS) executed a search warrant at an apartment building in Yellowknife, NT where approximately 48 grams of cocaine were seized.

Yellowknife GIS were investigating alleged illegal drug sales, and obtained a search warrant for a residence. With the assistance of the Northwest Territories RCMP Police Dog Services and Yellowknife Detachment members, they successfully executed the search warrant and discovered drugs, cash and drug paraphernalia, three people were arrested.

Alier Buttic of Leduc, AB has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of property obtained by crime less than or equal $5000, and Resists /obstructs peace officer. No further charges have been laid at this time. The investigation continues.

No one was injured during the execution of the search warrant.
