Drumheller, Alberta – On December 11, 2020 at 9:45 a.m., Drumheller RCMP responded to a complaint of threats. The investigation led to the containment of a residence and with the assistance of the Emergency Response Team, the male occupant was arrested without incident. A search warrant was executed at the residence whereby police seized a number of firearms, including a sawed off shotgun, other prohibited weapons, and an SKS rifle.
William Pickering (34) of Drumheller was arrested and has been charged with:
· Unauthorized possession of a firearm (x3)
· Uttering threats to cause death/bodily harm
· Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon
· Possession of stolen property
· Careless use/storage of a firearm
· Fail to comply with conditions of a release order (x2)
A Judicial hearing was held and Pickering was released on conditions. His next court appearance is on Dec.18, 2020 at the Drumheller Provincial Court.
As these matters are now before the courts, no further updates will be provided.

Update – Drumheller RCMP on scene of incident – Newcastle
Drumheller, Alta. – The incident in Newcastle has been resolved without incident and police would like to thank the public for their cooperation.
Drumheller RCMP along with the Emergency Response Team and Police Dog Services have taken one man into custody. The suspect is facing several charges including multiple firearms related offences, possession of stolen property, uttering threats and mischief. He is currently being held for bail hearing.

Drumheller RCMP on scene of incident – New Castle
Drumheller, Alta. – Are on scene of an incident on Second Avenue West (Newcastle).
There is a heavy police presence and both the Drumheller RCMP and Police Dog Services are on scene.
Residents in the area are asked to remain indoors and the public is asked to stay away from the area. RCMP is asking that their activity not be broadcasted on social media.
An update will be provided when available and the public/media are thanked for the cooperation in avoiding the area.
