49 year-old male charged in connection with an assault with a weapon: Regina Police

Regina, Saskatchewan – A 49 year-old male has been charged in connection with an assault with a weapon, which resulted in injuries to a 26 year-old male.

On December 26, 2020, at about 8:30 p.m., patrol officers were dispatched to a business in the 2100 block of Broad Street for a report of a knife offence. Information received indicated that a male allegedly struck another male in the face and then pulled out a knife before running away from the scene.

A canine officer, who arrived first at the location, was able to view a photograph of the suspect, taken by another individual there. As the other officers arrived to take statements and deal with the victim, the canine officer located the suspect near 14th Avenue and Hamilton Street. In spite of repeated warnings to stop, the male suspect continued to walk away. Believing the male to be armed, the canine officer sent the dog to apprehend the suspect. The suspect was treated by EMS for relatively minor injuries from a dog bite. Investigation into this incident led to a charge against the male, who also had an outstanding warrant.
