70-year-old Hammonds Plains man facing firearms charges

Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia – Yesterday, Halifax District RCMP responded to a call of shots fired in a residential neighbourhood in Hammonds Plains.

On December 29 at approximately 7:50 a.m. police responded to a 911 call of shots fired in the Skye Cres. area. While police were responding they heard another shot and were able to determine its originating location.

The man advised he was shooting to scare racoons off the roof.

Police arrested a man outside a residence with a firearm. The man advised he was shooting to scare racoons off the roof.

A 70-year-old Hammonds Plains man was arrested for Carless Use of a Firearm and a number of firearms were seized from the residence. The man was released from custody on conditions to appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date.
