Edson, Alberta – On Oct. 4, 2020, at approximately 2 a.m., Edson RCMP received multiple complaints of fires that occurred in the area of 51 street.
On Oct. 4, 2020, shortly after 2 a.m., complaints were received of a vehicle fire on 4 avenue and also 5 avenue near 50 street in Edson. The Edson Fire Department responded to assist. While on scene, the Edson RCMP observed a mobile home fire at the Ceaders Trailer Park nearby.
The officer notified the Edson Fire Department and police and fire immediately attended to the home and proceeded to evacuate the occupants of the mobile home, as well as nearby mobile homes. No one was injured.
The Edson Fire Department, along with the assistance of the Yellowhead County Fire Department, responded to address the residential fire. This mobile home fire spread to two adjacent mobile homes prior to being brought under control by the fire department.
No persons were injured as a result of any of the above noted incidents. Both vehicles were completely consumed by the fires and the mobile homes involved in the fires have been deemed uninhabitable.
Further investigation has determined these fires are believed to be arson.
Edson RCMP are requesting dash cam footage from anyone who may have been travelling in the area of 50 street and 4 and 5 avenue, as well as the Ceaders’ Trailer Park in Edson between 1:30 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. on Oct. 4, 2020.
“The quick action of our officer saved lives that day,” says Staff Sergeant Christian Delisle, Detachment Commander of the Edson RCMP. “We are thankful no one was injured as the fire could have easily gotten out of control.”
