Vermilion RCMP investigating shooting death of a horse

Vermilion, Alberta – Vermilion RCMP are currently investigating the shooting death of a horse that occurred sometime between Nov. 23, 2020 and Nov. 27, 2020.

On Nov. 30, 2020, Vermillion RMCP members responded to a property north of Highway 45 near Clandonald, Alta. for an animal call. Police located a deceased horse and determined it had been shot using a firearm. The owners advised there is an additional sorrel Belgian horse that is believed to have escaped through an open gate and is still missing.

Hunters have been known to use this property and may have mistaken the horse for another animal.
