UPDATE: Two more people charged in connection with Regina’s first homicide of 2021

Regina, Saskatchewan – Two more people have been charged in connection with Regina’s first homicide of 2021, bringing the total number of people charged in this case, to four. The latest two accused individuals are both adult males, who are facing charges including Second Degree Murder. Two individuals, charged with Accessory After the Fact to Murder, made their first appearances in Provincial Court (yesterday) on Tuesday, January 19, 2021.

The victim, 38 year-old Amber Dawn WOOD, was injured at a residence in the 700 block of Athol Street on the morning of Saturday, January 16, 2021. Police and EMS were dispatched at 8:10 a.m., and found WOOD with apparent gunshot injuries. WOOD was taken to hospital by EMS but was pronounced deceased a short time later.

Investigation into this case by the Regina Police Service Major Crimes Unit, assisted by other police resources, resulted in the arrests of an adult male and female on January 17th and 18th. Late Monday night, (January 18th), police surrounded a residence in the 1200 block of Wascana Street, believed to be the location of two more suspects. Eventually, two males emerged from the house. One was arrested without incident; the second attempted to flee on foot and was apprehended by a canine team. This male suffered relatively minor injuries from the dog bite; he was taken to hospital for treatment and then brought to RPS Detention. Continued investigation led to charges against both males.

Twenty year-old Bobby Edward Dawson GRAY and 22 year-old Peyton Anthony STEVENSON, both of Regina, are charged with:

Second Degree Murder [235(1) CC];

Attempt Murder [239(1)(a) CC];

Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order [117.01(1) CC]; and

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000 [355(a) CC].

Both GRAY and STEVENSON will make their first court appearances on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. (today) Wednesday, January 20, 2021.
