Wood Buffalo RCMP investigate attempted theft of vehicle with children inside

Fort McMurray, Alberta – On Jan. 13, 2020, shortly before 4:00 p.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to a call for service where an unknown adult male reportedly entered a running vehicle, after the driver had entered a business on Franklin Avenue. Preliminary investigation reveals when the suspect male started to drive the running vehicle, children in the vehicle made noise, the suspect subsequently stopped the vehicle a few meters from where it had been parked and fled on foot.

There were two children in the vehicle at the time, who were not injured as a result of this incident.

Wood Buffalo RCMP investigation is ongoing.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have information regarding this matter, or the whereabouts of the suspect, to contact Wood Buffalo RCMP at 780-788-4040. If you have not yet provided police dash camera footage or surveillance footage, you are also asked to contact Wood Buffalo RCMP.
