RCMP arrest male for aggravated assault; “they saw a male lying in a pool of blood, and another male on top of him”

Berens River, Manitoba – On January 24, 2021, at approximately 9:40 pm, Berens River RCMP were patrolling in the community when they observed an injured male walking on the roadway. The 32-year-old male was covered in blood and told officers that he had been assaulted. He was transported to the nursing station.

Officers attended the residence where the assault had occurred, but there was no answer at the door. When they looked through the window they saw a male lying in a pool of blood, and another male on top of him. Immediately they kicked in the front door and entered. A 25-year-old male was arrested, and a 29-year-old male was taken to the nursing station with very serious injuries.

Both victims were flown out of the community for further treatment.

Nathan Mckay, 25, of Berens River First Nation, has been charged with Aggravated Assault x2 and Fail to Comply.
