IHIT investigating fatal shooting in Langley, B.C.

Langley, BC – The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is requesting public assistance to further its investigation into the shooting death of a man in Langley, B.C.

Langley: On January 26, 2021 at 11:38 p.m., the Langley RCMP responded to the 5300-block of 207 Street for a shooting. Officers arrived to find a 22-year-old man dead inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds. A second man in his early twenties, also with gunshot wounds, was taken to hospital and is expected to survive.

At 11:52 p.m., the Surrey RCMP received a report of a burning vehicle in the area of 180 Street and 19A Avenue. Investigators are working to determine if there is a connection between this and the earlier Langley homicide. Anyone with dash cam video from the Langley scene and/or the Surrey scene is asked to contact IHIT immediately.

The investigation is in its early stages and IHIT is working closely with the I-Teams along with the Langley and Surrey RCMP to gather evidence and further the investigation.

“This has all the hallmarks of a targeted hit. The victim was known to police and his murder may have ties to the drug trade,” says Sergeant Frank Jang of IHIT. “It is not yet clear if this incident is linked to any of the other recent acts of violence.”
