Fort McMurray, Alberta – In Jan. 2021, Wood Buffalo RCMP received information of drug trafficking at an apartment in the Timberlea area of Fort McMurray. An investigation supported drug trafficking and a controlled drugs and substances act search warrant was obtained.
In collaboration of several units including Wood Buffalo RCMP’s Criminal Intelligence Unit, Crime Reduction Unit, Police Dog Services and Alberta RCMP’s Emergency Response Team, on Jan. 30, a search warrant was executed at a residence on Cartier Road. Two adult men were arrested and are facing charges.
This search resulted in approximately 50 grams of suspected fentanyl, drug trafficking paraphernalia and over $10,000.00 in Canadian currency being seized by police.
Khaled Mohamed Al Zabidi (23-years-old) of Fort McMurray, Alta., is facing charges for possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.
Ahmed Hussain Mohammed (26-years-old) of Fort McMurray, Alta., is facing charges for possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.
Both, Khaled and Ahmed were held for an in-custody judicial hearing. They have since been released on conditions and are both scheduled for court on Feb. 23, in the Fort McMurray Provincial Court.
