Happy Valley Goose-Bay RCMP responds to two residential fires

Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador – RCMP in Happy Valley-Goose Bay responded to two residential fires in Happy Valley-Goose Bay this week.

On Monday, February 8, 2021, shortly before 10:00 p.m., police and firefighters responded to a report of a residential fire in the basement apartment of a home on Park Drive. The fire was extinguished prior to police arrival by an occupant of the home, who was transported by ambulance for precautionary medical treatment. Minor damage caused by the fire was contained to property inside the home. The fire is believed to be suspicious.

On Tuesday, February 9, at approximately 5:30 a.m., police responded to a fire at an apartment complex on Hamilton River Road. Police and firefighters attended the scene and evacuated the complex to ensure the safety of the tenants. The complex, containing four units, was extensively damaged. RCMP and Fire Scene Investigators with Provincial Fire and Emergency Services remain on the scene.

At this time, police do not believe the two fires are linked and the investigations are continuing.
