Mountain View County, Alberta – Both northbound lanes of the QEII, north of the Didsbury overpass are now open.
The 19-year-old male driver of the SUV was taken by STARS to a local area hospital with life threatening injuries. The 19-year-old male passenger was transported to a local area hospital by EMS as a precaution. Both are from Spruce Grove, Alta.
No further updates are anticipated.
Mountain View County, Alberta – (11:15 AM) One northbound lane of traffic has reopened, however there are significant traffic delays and motorists are still requested to use an alternate route.
Emergency crews are expected to remain on scene for at least the next two hours. Motorists are asked to slow down in the area, be aware of emergency personnel and drive to the conditions. Ice on the roadway and blowing snow may impact driving conditions.

Mountain View County, Alberta – (10:42 AM) Innisfail Integrated Traffic Unit are on scene of a serious single motor vehicle collision on the QEII Highway that occurred at approximately 9:12 a.m. Traffic has been diverted northbound at the Didsbury overpass (Highway 582).
Preliminary investigation indicates that an SUV that was southbound on the QEII lost control approximately two kilometers south of the Highway 27 (Olds) overpass and rolled over landing in the northbound lane.
One occupant sustained non-life threatening injuries and a second occupant has sustained life-threatening injuries. STARS has arrived on scene.
Traffic is expected to be diverted for some time as the investigation into the incident continues.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area and use an alternate route.
