The man reportedly barricaded himself outside on the balcony, climbed onto the balcony’s railing, dangled his feet over the edge and acted unsafely. Responding members remained inside the suite at that time.

The man climbed down a level, and additional responding officers cordoned off the ground area below the suite to keep the area safe. Just before 9:20 a.m., the man fell to the ground when moving between balconies.

The 39-year-old man was treated and transported to hospital by paramedics where he remains, in critical, but stable condition.

The Director of Law Enforcement was notified and has since directed ASIRT to lead the investigation into this incident. As such, the EPS will not be providing further comment.
