UPDATE: RCMP lay charges in Rocky View County drive by shooting

Rocky View County, Alberta – On Feb. 24, 2021 at approximately 1:02 a.m., Airdrie Rural RCMP responded to a complaint from a homeowner who resides in a subdivision off RR 284 in Rocky View County, Alta. He reported that his upstairs bedroom window was shattered by a bullet.


An investigation was launched and as a result of the evidence obtained, the Airdrie Crime Reduction Unit executed a search warrant on a neighboring residence on Feb. 26, 2021. As a result of the search warrant, police seized the following:

28.4 grams of crack cocaine

271.5 grams of cocaine

362.8 grams of fentanyl

Approximately 700 grams of benzocaine

A restricted 9 mm handgun

A restricted .223 carbine style rifle


Approximately $80,000 in Canadian currency

A cell phone style taser

Police have charged Harinder Brar (30 yrs) and Hazel Brar (30 yrs) of Rocky View County with the following offences:

Possession for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl)

Possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)

Possession of property obtained by crime

Possess a prohibited weapon. (Taser)

The seized firearms were legally owned by the accused persons, and there are further investigational steps being undertaken in relation to the initial shooting complaint.

Harinder Brar and Hazel Brar were released on conditions to appear in Airdrie Provincial Court on Mar. 25, 2021.
