Lethbridge Police seek public’s help in identifying suspect in robbery of senior – ARRESTED, Police have charged a 33-year-old B.C. man

Lethbridge, Alberta – Lethbridge Police have charged a 33-year-old B.C. man in connection with the robbery of a senior at a northside business March 7, 2021.

While in the area on an unrelated manner, police observed three men in an alley in the 1200-block of 2 A Avenue North about 7:50 p.m. on Monday, March 8, 2021.  One of them was recognized as a suspect in the robbery of an 81-year-old man the day previous.

Codty Pearce-Gray of Sparwood has been charged with robbery. He has been released from custody to appear in court June 1, 2021.

BACKGROUND

Lethbridge, Alberta – Lethbridge Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in a robbery of an 81-year-old man at a business Sunday, March 7, 2021.

A man walked into a business in the 500-block of 13 Street North about 1:30 p.m., grabbed cash the senior had placed on the counter to pay for his purchase, and pushed him aside. The victim followed the man out of the store and to a blue-coloured Ford Escape parked outside.

The victim reached into the open window of the vehicle in an attempt to get his money back. The driver put the vehicle into reverse and a witness managed to pull the victim away so he wouldn’t be hurt. The victim also lost his ring and suffered a small cut on his hand in the process, but didn’t require medical attention.

The vehicle fled the scene and was later discovered abandoned in the 2000-block of 1 Avenue North.
