Lethbridge Police traffic stop results in drug-related and other charges

Lethbridge, Alberta – Lethbridge Police have charged a driver with drug-related and other offences following a traffic stop on Tuesday, March 16, 2021.

About 3:20 a.m. police stopped a vehicle westbound on Whoop-Up Drive on a traffic matter. The driver was subsequently arrested for failure to comply with release conditions. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of 26 grams of fentanyl and 22.4 grams of methamphetamine, with a total value of about $11,700. Also seized was $900 cash and drug paraphernalia.

Baltazar Martinez, 41, has been charged with: two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, one count of possession of stolen property; and one count of failure to comply with release conditions. The Lethbridge man was arrested on drug-related charges earlier this month and entered into a release order with condition.

Martinez was remanded in custody to appear in court March 18, 2021.
