Fort McMurray, Alberta – On Mar. 15, at approximately 11:45 p.m., emergency medical services were dispatched to a 911 call involving an off-road vehicle that reportedly rolled over. Regional Emergency Services EMS, Fire, Local HERO Medevac and Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to a location approximately 3 kilometers south of Highway 69 and Highway 63, on an off-road trail approximately 1 kilometer west of Hangingstone River.
Preliminary investigation reveals an adult male driver (27) of Fort McMurray and an adult male passenger (38) of Fort McMurray, were travelling on an off-road trail in a side-by-side off highway vehicle that rolled. The trail was icy which was likely due to warmer temperatures melting the snow, which then later froze when the temperatures dropped during nightfall. The adult male passenger succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Wood Buffalo RCMP’s investigation is ongoing.
