St. Albert male arrested and charged in homicide of Ryan Moffat of Gibbons, Alberta

An additional arrest has been made and a charge laid in relation to the March 11, 2021, homicide of Ryan Moffat (37) of Gibbons, Alta.

Redwater, Alberta – An additional arrest has been made and a charge laid in relation to the March 11, 2021, homicide of Ryan Moffat (37) of Gibbons, Alta.

Trevor Jason Freeman (41) of St. Albert, Alta., was arrested in Edmonton on April 20, 2021, with the assistance of the Edmonton Police Service. Freeman has been charged with Second Degree Murder.

Following a judicial hearing, Freeman was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Fort Saskatchewan Provincial Court on April 29, 2021.

The second male that was injured remains in hospital recovering in stable condition.

As this matter is now before the courts, no further updates will be provided.

RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigate incident in Redwater – Update

Redwater, Alta. – An arrest has been made and charges laid in relation to the March 11, 2021 homicide of Ryan Moffat (37) of Gibbons, Alta.

On March 11, 2021 at 11:45 p.m. Redwater RCMP responded to a report of two males with gunshot wounds at the Redwater Hospital. Investigation has determined the shooting took place at a residence in Sturgeon County, Alta.

The second male remains in hospital was serious but non-life threatening injuries.

On March 19, 2021, RCMP arrested 28-year-old Kalum Auger of Edmonton, Alta. Kalum Auger has been charged with Second Degree Murder. He was remanded into custody following a Judicial Interim Release Hearing and his next court appearance is scheduled for March 25, 2021 in Fort Saskatchewan, Alta.

As this matter is now before the courts, no further updates will be provided.

March 12, 2021

RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigate incident in Redwater

Redwater, Alta. – On March 11, 2021 at 11:45 p.m., Redwater RCMP responded to the Redwater hospital for reports that two males had been shot. One male succumbed to his injuries, the second male remains in hospital.

Access to the hospital was closed while RCMP investigated but the scene has been cleared this morning.

Edmonton Major Crimes has carriage of the investigation.

Although this is in the preliminary stages, the RCMP believe this was a targeted incident.

More information will be provided as it becomes available.
