Yukon RCMP investigations lead to arrests in United States and Canada

In 2020, Yukon RCMP received multiple reports of child luring from local victims.

Whitehorse, Yukon – In 2020, Yukon RCMP received multiple reports of child luring from local victims. From these reports, the Yukon RCMP Internet Child Exploitation investigator, with the assistance of the United States Department of Homeland Security, identified five suspects in various locations across Canada and the United States.

Investigative files, with information received directly from the victims, were shared with the agencies of jurisdiction who used the information to arrest and charge four suspects for offences including Child Luring and possession of child pornography. One of these investigation is still ongoing.

While these investigations can be more challenging when the suspects are believed to be from outside the territory, it is important to remember that the RCMP will work with other agencies around the globe in an effort to hold these suspects accountable.
