Chestermere RCMP on scene of fatal collision at the intersection of Rainbow Road and Chestermere Boulevard

At approximately 1 p.m. today, Chestermere RCMP responded to a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Rainbow Road and Chestermere Boulevard.

Chestermere, Alberta – (2:33 PM) At approximately 1 p.m. today, Chestermere RCMP responded to a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Rainbow Road and Chestermere Boulevard.

The collision involved a car and a pick-up truck.

An 81-year-old female passenger of the car from Calgary was pronounced deceased at the scene. The female driver and second female passenger were transported by EMS to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The lone male driver of the pick-up truck was treated and released at scene by EMS.

The circumstances leading up to the collision are currently under investigation. The RCMP Collision Analyst has also been called in to assist with the investigation.

Currently Emergency crews remain on scene and traffic flow in the area is slow. Southbound Rainbow Road is currently not accessible from west of Chestermere Boulevard.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area and to take alternate routes.
