Operation Corridor – Significant number of charges issued in a single day

Whitehorse, Yukon – On 15 April, 2021, Yukon RCMP Traffic Services with the support of the Whitehorse Detachment teamed up again with Yukon Government’s Carrier and Compliance on Operation Corridor for a one day enforcement blitz.

The purpose of this blitz was to enforce transportation industry legislation, including driver qualification, mechanical fitness, load/cargo security and the transportation of dangerous goods. This activity also served as a forum to educate and remind Commercial Drivers of the rules and regulations of their industry.

The one day blitz saw:

43 Territorial charges

12 National Safety Code charges

1 Out of Service Violation

14 Warnings

8 charges for insecure cargo

3 charges under Transportation of Dangerous Good

Unregistered and uninsured commercial vehicles

5 unlicensed drivers, from suspended to operating outside their class or conditions.

8 charges relating to safety and non conforming vehicles

Operation Corridor is a joint enforcement Initiative between the Yukon RCMP Traffic Services and Yukon Government Highways and Public Works – Carrier and Compliance and National Safety Code sections with a focus on commercial industry vehicles and transportation safety. These events occur periodically throughout the year with the overall intent to promote awareness of the rules and regulations of commercial transportation, identify common occurrences, and promote improved road safety for all people who travel our highways and roadways.
