Edson, Alberta – On April 30, 2021, Edson RCMP received a report of a suspicious vehicle parked adjacent to a Rogers Communications Ltd Cell Tower in Yellowhead County north of Millers Lake, Alta. The Rogers’ Technician reported that the Tower had lost network connectivity after an intrusion alarm at the site.
Edson RCMP’s investigation revealed that infrastructure within the site had been damaged, causing approximately $15,000 in damages along with approximately $30,000 in lost revenue for Rogers due to the network being out of service.
Joseph Victor Tremblay was located on the site and was arrested and charged with the following:
· Break and enter with intent
· Mischief over $5,000
· Wilful damage of a critical infrastructure site
Following a judicial hearing, Tremblay was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Edson Provincial Court on May 18, 2021.
