Ponoka, Alberta – Ponoka RCMP have arrested a male for several offences following a suspicious vehicle complaint from the public.
On April 30, 2021 at 4:28 a.m., Ponoka RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Highway 2A in Ponoka, Alta. Police located the vehicle and determined it had been reported stolen out of Edmonton earlier in the night.
The male driver was arrested and a search was conducted where police located and seized bear spray, a knife and what is believed to be 1.5 grams of Methamphetamine. At the time of the arrest the male provided a false name in an attempt to interfere with the police investigation.
A 17-year-old from Edmonton has been charged with:
Possession of stolen property under $5000 (x2)
Possession of stolen property over $5000
Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
Possession of an illegal substance
Wanted on a Canada Wide warrant for failing to comply with a supervision order
Fail to comply (x7)
The male has been remanded into custody and schedule to appear in Ponoka Provincial Court on May 5, 2021.
