Lethbridge Police charge Coaldale man with drug, weapon, and driving-related charges after a traffic incident Sunday

An LPS Community Peace Officer was stopped in traffic on Highway 3 and 28 Street about 6:20 p.m. when he observed a vehicle rear-end another.

Lethbridge, Alberta – The Lethbridge Police Service has charged a Coaldale man with drug, weapon, and driving-related charges after a traffic incident Sunday, May 9, 2021.

An LPS Community Peace Officer was stopped in traffic on Highway 3 and 28 Street about 6:20 p.m. when he observed a vehicle rear-end another. The CPO was able to pull one of the vehicles over, while the other left the scene.

Patrol units responded to assist and located the vehicle in question abandoned in the 2900-block of 2 A Avenue South. A subject was arrested a short distance away, and police seized three weapons including a tactical hatchet, a machete and another knife, as well as 28.4 grams of suspected methamphetamine valued at about $1,700. Drug paraphernalia and a small amount of cash were seized as well.

Daniel Edward Collier, 43, has been charged with: possession for the purpose of trafficking; assault with a weapon; dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and mischief. He remains in custody while awaiting a Judicial Interim Release hearing.
