Parkland RCMP locate and charge prolific offender from Edmonton

Acheson, Alberta – On May 10, 2021 at approximately 10:00 a.m., a Parkland RCMP officer was conducting patrols of the Acheson Industrial area when he observed a male sleeping in a parked vehicle. Investigation revealed that the vehicle had fled from Slave Lake RCMP earlier in the morning when police attempted to stop the vehicle.

When the investigator attempted to speak to the suspect, the suspect placed the vehicle in drive and fled at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was located a short time later and the suspect was observed walking along the road. After observing police, the suspect ran into a wooded area. RCMP sent up containment, located the suspect and arrested him without incident.

Break and enter tools, a can of bear spray and methamphetamine were found to be in the suspect’s possession.

Wayne Parsons (38) of Edmonton, Alta. was arrested for outstanding warrants and charged with the following:

· Flight from peace officer

· Resist or obstruct peace officer

· Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

· Possession of break in tools

· Possession of methamphetamine

Parsons was held for judicial interim hearing and was remanded into custody. His first appearance is schedule for May 12, 2021 at Stony Plain Provincial Court.
