Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta – In April 2021, Fort Saskatchewan RCMP’s Traffic and Crime Reduction Unit (T-CRU) entered into a drug investigation after receiving information that drugs were being trafficked from a residence in the Westpark area. Throughout the investigation, T-CRU, and Fort Saskatchewan RCMP’s General Investigations Section (GIS), conducted surveillance on the residence and observed evidence consistent with drug trafficking. An application for a Search Warrant was sought and authorized.
On May 11th, 2021, T-CRU with the assistance of GIS, General Duty members, and the Emergency Response Team, executed the Search Warrant. During the search, T-CRU seized the following:
· 451 grams (approximately 1 pound) of suspected cocaine
· Suspected Fentanyl in different containers ready for sale
· Suspected methamphetamine
· Various pills
· Drug packaging
· 5 x replica firearms along with swords and machetes
· A substantial amount of counterfeit currency
· A bag containing numerous stolen Drivers Licences, SIN cards, Health cards, and credit cards in various names
The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $45,000.00
Daniel Robert FERKO, a 29 year old male from Fort Saskatchewan, and Kevin Joseph GORNIAK, a 35 year old male from Fort Saskatchewan, have been jointly charged with the following; Unlawfully Producing a Controlled Substance x 2, Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Identity Documents, Fraudulently Possess Credit Card Data, and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.
FERKKO faces the following additional charges; Unlawfully Possessing a Controlled Substance x 2, Possession of Weapons for Dangerous Purpose, Fail to Comply with conditions of a Release Order x 3, and Fail to Comply with Probation Order.
GORNIAK faces the following additional charges; Fail to Comply with conditions of a Release Order, and Possession of Counterfeit Currency.
Both males have been remanded into custody and will appear in Fort Saskatchewan Provincial Court on May 13th.

Fort Saskatchewan RCMP Execute Search Warrant at a Westpark Residence
Fort Saskatchewan, Alta. – On the morning of May 11th, 2021, the Fort Saskatchewan RCMP’s Traffic and Crime Reduction Unit (T-CRU), with the assistance of the RCMP’s Emergency Response Team (ERT), the Fort Saskatchewan RCMP’s General Investigations Section (GIS) and General Duty members, executed a Search Warrant at a residence in the Westpark area. The RCMP are currently on scene conducting their investigation, so no further information will be released at this time. Once the investigation is complete, additional information will be released.
