New Minas, Nova Scotia – The RCMP’s Southwest Nova Major Crime Unit has charged four people in the homicide of 51-year-old Robert Campbell.
In the early morning hours of May 24, 2020, police were called to a home invasion in Wolfville Ridge. A second call was reported shortly after 7:00 a.m. in St. Croix, where a vehicle was burnt and Mr. Campbell’s remains were found inside.
On May 14, 2021, Darroll Murray Atwell, 42, of Robinson Corner, and Devyn Adam Dennis, 26, of Bishopville, were arrested without incident in relation to Mr. Campbell’s homicide. Both were charged with the following:
Indignity to Human Remains – S.182(b) CC
Accessory after the Fact – S.240 CC
Break and Enter with Intent to Commit an Indictable Offence – S.348(1)(a) CC
Arson S.434 CC
Both have been remanded into custody and will next appear in Kentville Supreme Court on May 21, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.
On May 18, 2021, Rebecca Elizabeth Moir, 37, of Five Islands, and Brandon Doucette, 28, of L’Ardoise, were arrested without incident in relation to Mr. Campbell’s homicide. Both were charged with the following:
Murder of Robert Campbell – S.235 CC
Criminal Negligence Causing Death – S.220 CC
Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose – S.88 CC
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm – S.91(1) CC
Moir is also facing an additional charge of Possession of a Weapon while Prohibited under section 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code.
Doucette is facing additional charges of Discharge of a Firearm under section 244(b) of the Criminal Code and Pointing a Firearm under section 87 of the Criminal Code.
Both have been remanded into custody and will be appearing in court later today. Moir will appear in Kentville Provincial Court and Doucette will appear in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court.
