Edmonton Police investigating fatal pedestrian collision in northwest Edmonton

Edmonton, Alberta – EPS Major Collision Investigations Section (MCIS) is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred Wednesday evening in northwest Edmonton.

At approximately 10:05 p.m. yesterday, Wednesday, June 2, 2021, Northwest Division patrol officers responded to a serious collision call near 142 Street just north of 153 Avenue.

Upon arrival it was reported to police that a Subaru WRX travelling northbound on 142 street lost control and veered off the road and to the right where it struck a female pedestrian on the east sidewalk.

The pedestrian, whose age is unknown at this time, was pronounced deceased on scene.

The 31-year-old male driver of the Subaru was treated and transported to hospital by paramedics with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. Charges, included impaired driving, are pending against the driver.

Any witnesses to this collision are asked to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area near 142 Street and 153 Avenue until further notice, while police investigate this fatal collision.
