UPDATE: La Ronge RCMP & GIS investigating assault of two children

Lac La Ronge, Saskatchewan – The La Ronge General Investigation Section arrested a 13-year-old female from the La Ronge area on Wednesday June 2nd in relation to investigation into the assault on two children that occurred on May 29th in a wooded area near the 400 block of Bells Point Road. Investigators do not believe the incident is random in nature.

The 13-year-old female, who cannot be identified as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault and was held to appear in La Ronge Provincial Court on June 3rd at 9:30 a.m. We cannot provide any further information about the youth as it may potentially identify them.

On May 29, 2021 at 6:47 p.m., La Ronge RCMP received a call to assist emergency medical services with two injured female children at Bells Point on Lac La Ronge First Nation.

Initial investigation indicates the children, ages 6 and 8, were victims of an assault. They were transported to hospital for treatment of their injuries. The incident happened in a wooded area near the 400 block of Bells Point Road. The children sought assistance from a nearby residence after the incident occurred.

At this time the La Ronge RCMP Detachment and La Ronge RCMP General Investigation Section continue to investigate, no arrests have been made and RCMP do not believe there is any risk to the general public.
