Drayton Valley RCMP investigation shows report of gun at school false

Drayton Valley, Alberta — On June 9, 2021, at 11:58 a.m., Drayton Valley RCMP received a report of a male with a gun at St. Anthony School in Drayton Valley.

Drayton Valley RCMP attended and upon further investigation it was learned that a youth had been carrying a broom that a younger student had mistaken for a firearm. The Drayton Valley RCMP’s investigation involved a search of the entire school and no firearms were located on the property.

Both schools in Drayton Valley have now been taken out of lockdown. The Drayton Valley RCMP would like to thank the schools for their assistance and the public for their patience and understanding.
