Foothills County RCMP investigate fatal single vehicle rollover west of Okotoks; “4 occupants in the vehicle”

Foothills County, Alberta – On June 8, 2021, just after midnight, a single vehicle rollover collision involving a car was reported to police on the Big Rock Trail (378 Avenue W) West of the town of Okotoks.

EMS, Okotoks Fire Department, Foothills County RCMP and Okotoks RCMP responded.

There were 4 occupants in the vehicle, all are Calgary residents.


The vehicle had been travelling eastbound on Big Rock Trail approximately two kilometers north of Highway 7 when it lost control.

A 28-year-old female passenger, was pronounced dead on scene.

The driver, a 26-year-old male was taken by ground ambulance to a Calgary hospital with serious injuries.

A 20-year-old male was airlifted by STARS Air ambulance to a Calgary hospital with serious injuries.

A 28-year-old male was treated on scene for minor injuries.

The RCMP Collision Analyst is engaged, as well as the RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT).

All possible contributing factors related to this collision are being considered, and the collision remains under investigation.
