Lethbridge Police charge three, seize drugs, weapons and money, and recover stolen property

Lethbridge, Alberta – The Lethbridge Police Service Crime Suppression Team (CST), with the assistance of several other units, concluded an investigation Thursday, June 9, 2021 with charges against three people, the seizure of drugs, weapons and cash, and the recovery of stolen property.

After earlier observing activity consistent with drug trafficking, members of the CST – with assistance from the Priority Crimes Unit, Downtown Patrol Unit, Canine Unit and Patrols – executed a search warrant at a home in the 900-block of 7 A Street South.

Seized were 10.8 grams of fentanyl, 22.7 grams of methamphetamine, 4.4 grams of psilocybin and four morphine pills, with a total value of about $3,700. Police also seized more than $1,000 in cash as the proceeds of crime, as well as brass knuckles, bear spray and a pellet gun (due to prohibition). Also recovered was a variety of stolen property, including a vehicle and other items which has already been returned to the owners.

Brandon Coster-Tarcon, 32, has been charged with: two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance; one count of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000; two counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000; two counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon; and two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon contrary to a prohibition order.

Taylor Knapp-Johnson, 21, was charged with: two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance; one count of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000; two counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000; and two counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon.

Stewart Lee Chasse, 37, has been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance, and one count of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

All three are from Lethbridge and remain in custody while awaiting Judicial Interim Release hearings. Charges are pending against a fourth subject.
