Drayton Valley RCMP parolee check leads to further charges

Drayton Valley, Alberta — On June 8, 2021, members of the Drayton Valley RCMP attended a local address in Drayton Valley looking for a male on an outstanding Canada-Wide arrest warrant for parole violation.

The wanted male was arrested and after further investigation, police located a quantity of illegal drugs. Police executed a search warrant at the residence and located further evidence of drug trafficking.

Mark Louis Pratt (48) from the Red Deer area was arrested for his outstanding warrant and is facing new charges:

· Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl

· Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine

· Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking – Methamphetamine

· Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking – Psilocybin (Magic Mushrooms)

· Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

· Possession of a weapon contrary to prohibition order

Following a judicial hearing, Pratt was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Drayton Valley Provincial Court on July 6, 2021.
