Strathcona County RCMP on scene at fatal pedestrian collision – * Update*

Strathcona County, Alberta – (7:14 AM) Strathcona County RCMP advise that Wye Road is now re-opened to traffic in all directions.

Emergency crews are no longer on scene.

The investigation is on-going as Strathcona County RCMP along with a RCMP Collision Analyst continue to investigate.

No further updates are anticipated at this time.

Strathcona County RCMP on scene at fatal pedestrian collision

Strathcona County, Alta. – On July 4, 2021 at 12:30 a.m., Strathcona County RCMP responded to a call of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision on Wye Road, east of Sherwood Park.

Strathcona RCMP, Fire and EMS responded and are currently on scene. Preliminary investigation indicates a car travelling westbound on Wye Road collided with a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a 31-year-old male from Sherwood Park, was determined to be deceased on scene. The 17-year-old male driver of the car and a female passenger, both of Edmonton, were not injured.

The RCMP Collision Analyst has been called to assist with the investigation.

Wye Road, between Range Road 224 and Range Road 225, will be blocked to all traffic for several hours. Detours are in place and the public is asked to avoid the area if possible while RCMP continue to investigate.
