Grande Prairie RCMP search warrant leads to drug and weapons seizure

Grande Prairie, Alberta – Grande Prairie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit executed a search warrant on a residence resulting in seizure of drugs, weapons and currency.

On July 6, 2021 with the assistance from Grande Prairie municipal officers, a search warrant was conducted on a residence in the area of 94 Street and 121 Avenue.

The search resulted in the seizure of the following:

· 80 grams of suspected Fentanyl

· 75 grams of suspected Methamphetamine

· 5 grams of suspected Cocaine

· 100 Prescription pills

· A loaded .32 calibre revolver

· 88 rounds of .32 calibre ammunition

· A crossbow

· An imitation firearm

· Bear Spray

· $2, 900 in Canadian Currency

· Drug paraphernalia

Two individuals were arrested during the search. One of them was wanted on several outstanding warrants on unrelated matters. As a result of this investigation, both individuals are facing new charges.

Stacey Trotter (35) of Grande Prairie, has been charged with:

· Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x2

· Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Order x2

· Unsafe Storage of a Firearm

· Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

· Possession of Ammunition at an Unauthorized Place

· Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

· Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

· Possession of Break-in Instruments

Danica Nystrom, a 25-year-old female from Ponoka, has been charged with:

· Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x2

· Failing to Comply with an Undertaking x2

· Unsafe Storage of a Firearm

· Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

· Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

· Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

· Possession of Break-in Instruments

Following a judicial hearing, Trotter and Nystrom have been remanded in custody to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on July 14, 2021.
