UPDATE: Boater locates body of male swept away by North Saskatchewan River

Drayton Valley, Alberta – On July 12, 2021, at approximately 7 p.m., Drayton Valley RCMP received a report that an individual that had been boating on the North Saskatchewan River believed to have located the missing male who had been swept away on July 8, 2021.

Drayton Valley RCMP and Drayton Valley Fire Department attended the location on the North Saskatchewan River, approximately 2.5 km downstream from where the male had last been seen, and recovered the male who was deceased.

Drayton Valley RCMP would like to thank the Drayton Valley Fire Department, Alberta Fish and Wildlife and Parkland RCMP for their assistance in utilizing their boats for searches; as well as members of the public who provided assistance.

Drayton Valley RCMP Detachment seek assistance in locating missing male swept away in North Saskatchewan River

Drayton Valley, Alta. – On July 8, 2021 at approximately 4:55 p.m., Drayton Valley RCMP Detachment were dispatched to locate a missing adult male who had been swept away while attempting to assist someone with their dog in the North Saskatchewan River near the bridge located near Highway 22 near Drayton Valley.

Drayton Valley RCMP, along with the Drayton Valley Fire and Rescue Services along with EMS and Alberta Fish and Wildlife attended. Parkland RCMP, Drayton Valley Fire Department and Alberta Fish and Wildlife conducted searches with boats on the river; however, the missing male was not located. The search continued on July 9, 2021, utilizing boats and drones; however, the missing male has not been located.

The Drayton Valley RCMP are asking anyone who is on the North Saskatchewan River for recreational purposes in the area or downstream to keep an eye out for any signs of the missing male.
