Edmonton Police arrest two men, seize firearms and significant amount of fentanyl

Edmonton, Alberta – Two Edmonton men are facing multiple drug and firearm-related charges in connection to an EPS investigation that culminated with the seizure of 27 ounces of fentanyl from a downtown Edmonton residence Thursday morning.

With the assistance of EPS Tactical members and Alberta Sheriffs, EPS Downtown Division Beats Team 2 officers executed a CDSA search warrant at a residence near 106 Avenue and 96 Street, at approximately 11 a.m., Thursday, July 22, 2021.

While searching the residence, EPS members discovered 27 individually wrapped ounces of fentanyl concealed in a compartment in the bathroom. The drugs carry an estimated street value of approximately $173,400.

A mixture of 0.28 grams of methamphetamine and fentanyl along with various pills were also found, the latter of which is still being analyzed.

Investigators also seized a sawed-off Remington 7600 model rifle, a homemade Zip gun and various rounds of ammunition, as well as $3,600 in cash.

Thanh Lam, 57, of Edmonton, is facing charges including:

Possess for the purpose of trafficking

Possess of stolen property under $5,000 (proceeds of crime)

Contravened regulation (firearms)

Unauthorized possession of a firearm

Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm

Possession of a firearm knowing the serial number has been altered/defaced/removed

Bernard Agustin, 47, of Edmonton, is facing charges including:

Possession for the purpose of trafficking

Possess stolen property under $5,000 (proceeds of crime)

Contravened regulation (firearms)

Unauthorized possession of a firearm

Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm

Possession of a firearm knowing the serial number has been altered/defaced/removed
