Alberta RCMP Major Crimes investigate suspicious death of missing male from Fort Macleod; “possible human remains that were located in a rural area”

Crowsnest Pass, Alberta — On July 20, 2021, at 8 p.m., Crowsnest Pass RCMP received a report from Alberta Fish and Wildlife of possible human remains that were located in a rural area.

Crowsnest Pass RCMP members attended and located what appeared to be human remains. As a result, Alberta RCMP Major Crimes attended along with RCMP Forensic Identification Services to examine the scene.

Further investigation has resulted in the identification of the deceased as 35-year-old Lane Tail Feathers, who was reported as missing since June 20, 2021. This death is being treated as suspicious and Alberta RCMP Major Crimes have taken over carriage of this investigation.

An update will be provided when further information is available.

Fort Macleod RCMP seek assistance to locate missing male

Fort Macleod, Alta.- On June 20, 2021, Fort MacLeod RCMP received a report that 35-year-old Lane Tail Feathers was missing by family and has not returned to his residence located in Fort MacLeod since June 20, 2021. Lane may also be in the Fort MacLeod or Lethbridge areas.

The Fort Macleod RCMP’s investigation has indicated there is concern for his well-being and the Fort Macleod RCMP would like to speak to Lane and confirm his well-being. Fort MacLeod RCMP’s efforts to locate Lane have been unsuccessful.

Lane is described as:

· Brown hair

· Brown eyes

· 5’7” tall

· 170 lbs

· Indigenous
