Edmonton Police investigating fatal single-vehicle collision that took place early this morning in south Edmonton

Edmonton, Alberta – EPS Major Collision Investigations Section (MCIS) is investigating a fatal single-vehicle collision that took place early this morning in south Edmonton.

Just before 3 a.m. today, Saturday, July 24, 2021, a Mercedes E320 was travelling northbound on Rabbit Hill Road, approaching MacTaggart Drive, when the vehicle lost control and struck a light pole. The rear passenger, a 20-year-old male, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced deceased by EMS on scene.

The 19-year-old male driver and the other front passenger, a 21-year-old male, were both transported to hospital for precautionary measures.

Investigators believe speed was a factor in this fatal collision. Alcohol may have also been a factor.

MCIS continues to investigate.
