Okotoks RCMP investigating injury collision on Big Rock Trail

Okotoks, Alberta – On July 28, 2021, at 7:45 p.m., an EMS crew came across a collision on Big Rock Trail near 378 Avenue in Foothills County. Okotoks RCMP, Fire and STARS air ambulance were dispatched to the scene.

The preliminary investigation indicated that a westbound pick-up tried to pass slower moving vehicles; however, encountered oncoming traffic. The pick-up swerved, lost control, struck another westbound vehicle and then rolled several times before coming to rest in the north ditch. The 72-year-old male driver from Black Diamond, Alta., who was the lone occupant of the pickup, had to be extricated by fire services. He was transported by STARS to hospital. The occupant of the westbound vehicle that was struck by the pickup was not injured.
