Airdrie Rural RCMP investigate report of attempted abduction

Crossfield, Alberta – On July 30, 2021 at 3:49 p.m., Airdrie Rural RCMP received a report of a possible attempted child abduction in Crossfield, Alta. Witnesses reported that a silver car pulled up to a group of children outside of a residence in Crossfield and the occupants of the vehicle appeared to wave the children over. The children ran inside to get their parents, and when the parents came outside, the vehicle was gone.

The incident was discussed on local social media platforms, with photos of the vehicle and its occupants. The driver of the vehicle saw the social media posts and contacted RCMP. The investigation determined that the driver was looking for an address in the area, and no criminal offence occurred or was attempted.

Airdrie RCMP request social media posts regarding this incident be removed as the investigation determined the allegations were unfounded.
