Strathcona County RCMP on scene of collision on Highway 216 – UPDATE

Sherwood Park, Alberta – On Aug. 12, 2021, at 7:04 a.m., Strathcona County RCMP and emergency crews responded to a three-vehicle collision on Highway 216.

Preliminary investigation revealed a vehicle travelling southbound on Highway 16 off ramp merging onto Highway 216 was trying to pass a truck. The vehicle ended up hitting the back of the truck and swerved into the side of a second truck causing the truck to roll several times.

The 31-year-old male driver of the truck that rolled was transported to hospital by ground ambulance with minor injuries and later released. The 47-year-old male driver of the truck that was hit from behind was also transported to hospital with minor injuries and has since been released. The 30-year-old female driver of the vehicle and one passenger did not sustain any injuries.

The RCMP Collision Analyst attended and the investigation is ongoing.

No further information is available at this time.

The Highway is now clear for traffic.
