Drayton Valley RCMP execute search warrant and charge man for drugs and proceeds of crime

Drayton Valley, Alberta – (Aug 13, 2021, 4:24 PM) On Aug. 13, 2021, after a two-months long investigation, Drayton Valley RCMP General Investigation Section, with assistance from Drayton Valley RCMP General Duty members, executed a search warrant under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act for two different residences in Drayton Valley, Alta. Police seized suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine; along with drug trafficking materials and over $5,000 in Canadian currency.

Stephen Craig Spurrell (38), of Drayton Valley area, was arrested and is facing the following charges:

· Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking of suspected fentanyl

· Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking of suspected cocaine

· Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking of suspected methamphetamine

· Possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000

Stephen Spurrell was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Drayton Valley Provincial Court on Aug. 17, 2021.
