Mayerthorpe RCMP charge male with Break and Enter and Mischief to a residence near the Town of Sangudo

Sangudo, Alberta – On Aug. 11, 2021, Mayerthorpe RCMP responded to a report of an intoxicated male near the Town of Sangudo, Alta. The male was said to be acting aggressively and was trespassing on private property.

Upon arriving in the area, witnesses reported that the male had entered a residence and then left on foot. He was quickly located in the back yard of a neighbouring property and was arrested with little incident. The owner of the property where the male was arrested then realized that his residence had been forcibly entered and there was damage to the front door. Evidence at the scene linked the intoxicated male to the break and enter and he has subsequently been charged.

Matthew Donahue (37 yrs) of Sangudo, Alta has been charged with the following offences:

· Break and Enter to a Residence

· Mischief to Property Under $5000 (x2)

While in custody, Matthew Donahue also damaged an RCMP vehicle and the holding facility. A bail hearing was conducted and Donahue was released from custody. He is scheduled to appear in Mayerthorpe Provincial Court on Sept. 9, 2021.
