Nunavut RCMP officer charged with Assault

Sanirajak, Nunavut – On August 24, 2021, Corporal Ian Crowe, an RCMP member stationed in Sanirajak, NU was charged with one offence under the Criminal Code of Canada. The charge is in relation to an incident that occurred in Sanirajak in the summer of 2020 while Corporal Crowe was working as Detachment Commander and responding to a call for service.

Corporal Crowe has been charged with the following offence:

– Assault contrary to section 266.

“The conduct of police officers is paramount in maintaining the trust of the communities they serve.” Stated C/Supt. Jones. “The criminal charge laid is very serious. This allegation does not reflect the integrity of our individual members nor does it represent what we stand for as a police service.”
