Wetaskiwin RCMP traffic stop leads to seizing weapons and drugs, two people charged

Wetaskiwin, Alberta – (27-Aug-2021 11:41 AM) On Aug. 26, 2021 at approximately 3:30 a.m, a Wetaskiwin RCMP officer was conducting patrols in an industrial area when a suspicious vehicle was observed. The licence plate did not match the vehicle so the officer conducted a traffic stop. During the subsequent investigation, the driver and passenger were arrested. During a search of the vehicle, the officer located several weapons, drugs and break-in tools.

Nathan Gabriel Adams (36), of Wetaskiwin, Alta. and Kristen Ashley Rain (35) of Breton, Alta. have been charged with several offences including:

· Possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine);

· Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (x3);

· Possession of break-in instruments;

· Possession of prohibited weapon while unauthorized (x2)

After a judicial interim release hearing, Adams was released with conditions to appear in Wetaskiwin Provincial Court on Sept. 9, 2021. Rain was remanded to appear in Wetaskiwin Provincial Court on Aug. 27, 2021.
