Two charged in community hall shooting: Edmonton Police

Edmonton, Alberta – (01-Sep-2021 @ 4:24 PM) The Edmonton Police Service has charged two men in relation to last weekend’s shooting at a community hall.

On Monday, Aug. 29, 2021, the EPS Homicide Section charged Christopher Wilson, 37, with second degree murder.

Today, Wednesday, Sep. 1, 2021, a second male, Abdullahi Yalahow, 32 was charged with first degree murder.

An autopsy on the victim is scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021.

Five of the six males who were also injured in the incident have now been released from hospital, and all six are expected to survive.

Background

At approximately 4 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 29, 2021, Southwest Division officers responded to the report of a shooting at a community hall in the area of 37 Avenue and 106 Street. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased male in his 20s inside the hall. Six other adult males were also injured during the incident.
