Steinbach RCMP investigate report of attempted child luring

Steinbach, Manitoba – On September 18, 2021, at approximately 8:20 pm, Steinbach RCMP received a report of attempted child luring at the Kimberly Bay Park in Steinbach, Manitoba. A 13-year-old female, a 10-year-old female, and a 10-year-old male were playing at the playground structure when a male of approximately 60 years of age approached the children. The male was in a dark-coloured four-door car and told the girls to get in his vehicle.

The children ran away from the park through the neighbourhood. The suspect followed them and kept trying to get them inside his vehicle, at one point exiting the vehicle. This lasted for approximately eight minutes. The children were able to get to a safe location and call police. The children were not physically injured.

Officers immediately patrolled the area, but no vehicle matching the description provided by the children was located.

The suspect is described as Caucasian, approximately 5’8″ tall, with a grey beard, grey eyebrows, and very short grey hair, with a receding hairline.
